Picture it: the sun is setting, the water is sparkling under the final rays, you lock eyes with your beloved… and out comes a ring and the “question” they’ve been waiting for. Charleston is pure magic—making it an amazing location to propose to your significant other!
Throughout the year, but especially in the summer, Charleston is a gorgeous community full of romance. With so many beautiful outdoor spots, luxurious resorts and waterfront restaurants, and one-of-a-kind attractions, there are plenty of romantic spots to choose from in the Holy City.
Luckily, we’ve narrowed it down for you. Here are the five best spots to “pop the question” in Charleston.
Boone Hall Plantation
Did you know this majestic plantation was one of the many scenic locations where the 2004 film The Notebook was filmed?
It’s no surprise this gorgeous setting inspires romance—with an endless array of mature trees and ample Spanish moss, this is a classic example of Southern romance.
Angel Oak Tree
We can’t think of any outdoor area that represents the whole of Charleston quite like the famed Angel Oak Tree.
Come during the early morning to enjoy the cool air, take in the awe-inspiring natural setting, and spend an unforgettable moment alone with your significant other.
Visit the Gardens of Middleton Place to transport yourself back in time to the classic European gardens of André Le Nôtre, the designer behind Versailles and other famous locations.
Observe the trees, green arbors, decadent flowers and revel in the natural perfume throughout. While your beloved stops to inspect a particularly beautiful flower, why not pull out the ring you have hidden in your pocket?
A Rooftop at Sunset
Nothing beats watching the sunset from a stylish rooftop bar—and Charleston has plenty to choose from! Some of the area’s best include the Rooftop at the Vendue Inn. Before you head to the roof for drinks, spend some time observing the 300 works of art throughout!
Another great spot is the Pavilion Bar which features romantic views as well as a cascading pool!
On the Beach
First step: pick a calm, oceanfront location that’s not as attractive to tourists. We suggest Sullivans Island or Daniel Island, as these beaches are some of the most beautiful—and tranquil—we’ve ever visited.
Hold hands and walk along the ocean barefoot for the ultimate vibes… When the time is right, you’ll know.
Charleston + You = the Perfect Match
After you fall in love in Charleston… why not fall in love with Charleston? This community is ideal for vacationing and year-round living, and there are so many beautiful homes for sale we’d love to show you.
